Paul Hille

Principal

Paul has worked in the Catholic education system since 1986 and has accepted teaching positions in bothcountry and metropolitan schools. He has held numerous positions of responsibility within Catholic schools.

Paul holds a Masters of Educational Leadership, Bachelor of Education (Religious Education Major) and Diploma of Teaching degrees and he has the appropriate accreditation qualifications for Leadership in Catholic schools.

Paul has had the responsibility of being the Principal of a number of Catholic primary schools within Western Australia including:

  • St Mary’s Kalgoorlie
  • St Munchin’s Gosnells
  • Our Lady’s Assumption Dianella
  • Notre Dame SchoolCloverdale
  • Paul also was appointed as Acting Principal of St Francis Xavier Geraldton in 1996

Up until December 2008, Paul was the Vice President of the Catholic Primary Principals Association (CPPA) of Western Australia as well as the Vice President of the Australian Catholic Primary Principals Association (ACPPA). Paul has also been a CPPA representative on a number of different work parties.

In September 2008, Paul was appointed to the position of Executive Principal for Catholic Education Office, a position in which only two primary and two secondary principals were appointed. The role of the Executive Principal is to, at the discretion of the Director of Catholic Education, provide strategic and operational support to schools, as well as mentor other Principals within Western Australian Catholic Schools.

As a Principal, Paul’s management across a variety of leadership domains has been vital to the effective functioning of the schools in which he has worked. Curriculum development, strategic planning, financial management, pastoral care and human resource management are all part of the responsibility of the school principal and are all areas that Paul believes in strongly.

Paul was appointed Principal responsible for the amalgamation of the two Catholic Primary Schools Holy Name School, Carlisle and Notre Dame School Cloverdale.

In 2011, in recognition of his leadership during the amalgamation and his vision for the future development of Notre Dame Catholic Primary School, Paul was nominated by the Notre Dame School Board for a National Excellence in Teaching Award (NEiTA). In October 2011, Paul was honoured with an NEiTA 2011 ASG Inspirational Teaching State and Territory Award – one of only 60 throughout Australia.

Jennifer Anderson

Assistant Principal (Administration)

Jennifer has been teaching in the Catholic education system for 18 years. She graduated from ECU in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts (Music Education) and commenced teaching music and upper primary classes the following year at St Munchin’s in Gosnells. In 1998, Jennifer was employed at Notre Dame School, Cloverdale as the Year 5 teacher and during her time there, coordinated enrichment programmes for the students.

In 2003, Jennifer was offered a position at St Augustine’s School in Rivervale where she took on the leadership role of Literacy Coordinator. After a year, she took up the position of Assistant Principal (Religious Education) at the school where her chief responsibilities were the co-ordination and monitoring of the religious education programme of the school.

In 2007, she returned to Notre Dame School where she held the role of Assistant Principal (Shared Responsibilities) until the amalgamation of Notre Dame School with Holy Name in Carlisle in 2010. Her present portfolio of Assistant Principal (Administration) includes the development of school policies, handbooks and co-ordination of booklists.

Jennifer holds a Master of Education (Religious Education) and plans to continue her postgraduate studies in the near future.

Velma Erskine

Assistant Principal (Evangelisation and Religious Education)

After graduating from Victoria College in 1989, Velma began her teaching career in the early childhood sector at St Domenic's in Melbourne.

In 1995, Velma and her family relocated to Perth where she continued her work in early childhood at Newman Junior Primary in Floreat.

Velma's teaching experience spread across the K-7 sector in 1998 when she accepted a position at St Brigid's College in Lesmurdie. In her ten years at St Bridgid's, she undertook a variety of leadership roles which included Team Leader years K-2 and 3-6: Religious Coordinator K-12 and First Wave RAISe Coordinator years K-6.

Joining Holy Name in 2008, Velma held the positions of classroom teacher and Assistant Principal (Shared Responsibilities). Her present role as Assistant Principal Evangelisation and Religious Education at Notre Dame Catholic Primary School includes overseeing the Evangelisation, Religious Education, and Sacramental Programs. Her interests in these areas led her to undertake further studies and she successfully completed her Masters of Education Religious Education in 2009.
